A Funny Thing Happened!

I was uploading pictures from the camera to the laptop when I noticed the following pictures:

I'm trying to figure out how and when Aydan got a hold of the camera to be able to take pictures without me around.  And then I look at the next shot:
I guess I fell asleep while watching TV with Aydan, Zayn was napping and Aydan went nuts!

Happy 3rd Birthday Aydan!

Aydan turned 3 years old this year!
Wow! Where did the time go?

As his birthday approached he was so excited because he was going to have a 'jumpy castle' at his party but all I could think about was, "Holy Moly - I have a 3 year old!"
I still remember the day Aydan was born; it was a day that changed my outlook on life.  I finally got to meet someone I was waiting so long for.  He made me into a mom, something I wanted to be so badly.  He let the dream that Sulman and I shared for so long become a reality.
We decided to throw a huge party for him because he never really had a huge party so we went all out!
He is currently obsessed with Toopy and Binoo a Canadian cartoon.  It's a story of huge mouse and much smaller cat who are best friends and live in a make believe land of adventures.
Aydan was watching an episode titled, The Big Race when he first laughed out loud while watching it. He had never done that before and every time that episode comes on, he laughs at that same part all the time!
So it was only natural he would want a Toopy and Binoo birthday party and it was only natural that I would agree to it.  I had to order a cake and make sure the baker knew was familiar with the show because I wanted it to be perfect! I had to make all the decorations myself since there wasn't any party supplies based on the show!  Anything for my Dani!
Here are some pics from the party:

The day of his party he also told me he didn't want to wear Pull Ups anymore.  All he wanted to do was jump in his Jumpy Castle.  I kept pestering him to go to but he kept telling me he didn't have to go.  I later found out from my mom that he went to the washroom three times asking her to help him because he couldn't find me!  He decided he wanted to really grow up!

On the day of his actual birthday we took Aydan bowling -another obsession of his!

He was so excited and kept telling us that he was bigger now, that's why he can go bowling and carry the ball!

Happy Birthday Aydan!

One of my favorite pics...

Aydan's shirt says Big Bro!  This was taken the day Sulman's parents were arriving from Saudi to meet Zayn for the first time:
While Zayn enjoyed hanging out Aydan continuted to make funny faces!

Another one of my fav pics that I plan on enlarging and framing is a candid one of Aydan and I.  He's been showing a lot of interest in taking pics, one afternoon he kept taking pictures of me.  I took the camera from him and said I'd take one of us together. He was so excited it made me so happy, that I was wataching him pose for the picture.  Just as the pic was about to be taken he turned and looked at me -and I really think you can see the love in this pic!

Earth to The Sheikhs....

Yes we're still alive - extremely busy but alive we are!
I'm going to promise to do a post a day for the next few weeks to get everything up to date.
Obviously Zayn is growing like a weed. Here he is having cereal for the first time:

He did eat it all up and continues to do so everyday!  And of course here is Aydan dancing away while Zayn was enjoying his cereal!

In April was my birthday and I was gifted a season's pass to the Toronto Zoo!  It was the perfect gift because I spent many warm afternoons admiring the animals with the kids!  Here are a few pics from our first visit:
A bonus for me in the Spring was Aydan wanted to do everything for Zayn.  I often found him changing his diaper!

Two peas in a pod!

The boys are really hitting it off!  Aydan always wants to play with his little brother and Zayn is constantly looking around for him.  As soon as he catches a glimpse of him -he's all smiles.

A nice suprise!

It was Sulman's birthday over the weekend and we took a quick family get away to Niagara Falls.  It was too cold to actually enjoy the falls but we had a lot of fun anyway.
I took Aydan swimming for the first time and I thought he would be afraid since he hates the water coming on his face but he loved it.  He kept insisting I let him go not realizing his feet wouldn't even touch the bottom.  It was a perfect time to swim because there were not a lot of people in the pool.
While we were swimming Sulman told me to turn around and I was faced with a piece of floating poop nearby.  I was shocked but more than disguisted -I guess that's the mom in me.  I quickly lifted Aydan out of the pool and asked him if he went to the bathroom.  He kept insisting no.  I kept asking him, and he kept telling me he didn't do anything.  By this time the ladies were out of the pool and I was a shade of pink due to embarassment that I have never been before.  Finally Aydan said, "I did alittle pooh-pooh!"  He was so innocent, he had no idea his little accident was the end of our fun time in the pool.
He kept insisting he wanted to go back into the pool.  While changing I explained to him he can't go to the bathroom in the pool and I promised to take him again in our community pool.
When we were back up in our room, he hugged me and told me I was his best friend!  My heart just melt.  When Sulman joined us, he told Sulman that he loved him a lot.  A reaction like that makes you forget the floating poop!
And just because I don't have the best luck -at breakfast we were seating at the table next to the 4 ladies that were already acquainted with Aydan's poop!

Winter Olympics 2010 in Vancouver

Aydan enjoyed watching the Olympics and enjoyed cheering on the Canadians especially the Men's hockey team.  Aydan now recognizes the Canadian flag and says, "Go Canana Go!" whenever he sees it.
The boys even got cool Olympic gear!

And in this next one Aydan is saying, "I'm a Robot, I'm a Robot!"

Zayn's 3 months old!

Zayn turned 3 months old on Feb. 19th.  The sign isn't the greatest but here he is!  He's in the 50th percintile for weight and in the 80th for height.  He's just as tall as his big brother was but not as chubby!

And just for being so darn cute!

And here's Sophia beaming with pride that Zayn fell asleep in her lap!

Zayn and Auzan!

Zayn has a new cousin Auzan.  He was born on January 7 2010 and I'm sure the two of them will be great friends when they are older!

Just for you Nona Chachu!

Everytime Aydan brushes his teeth I tell him that his dentist Uncle is going to come and check his teeth.  If they are not clean he is not going to be happy!  So Aydan loves brushing his teeth now and here's proof!

While Aydan brushes Zayn patiently awaits the arrival of his teeth!

Zayn's 2 months old!

Wow time sure does fly!  Zayn is now two months old, smiling, cooing and growing up!

In the meantime, Aydan is avoiding my kisses!  That must be a sign of him growing up!

Zayn's first hockey game!

Zayn stayed up with us to watch the Jr Boys Team Canada Hockey team play the USA team.  It was a great game ending in an over-time loss but the highlight was definitely watching Zayn in his official Team Canada gear!

Some pictures of Zayn's fist month!

Here's Zayn with his mom!  Finally a picture of the two of us!

Here's Aydan with Zayn, one of the many times he wants to hold him.  Usually the first thing in the morning, Aydan asks where Zayn is.  After changing him he just wants to sit and hold him.  But then after a few mintutes he tells me Zayn is hurting him and lets go of him.  I have to be near by because there is no telling when Aydan will get tired.

The boys both got haircuts.  Aydan was long overdue for one and Zayn had to have his head shaved.
Don't they look handsome?

Neelu Chachi and Nona Chachu came to visit too!  Aydan was alittle jelous of the attention they were giving Zayn but didn't seem to mind when it came to taking a picture!

And here's just a typical day in our home:

New Beginnings

This blog is kicking me in the butt and I don't like to lose. A combination of laziness, winter blues and motherhood have kept me from blogging but that is going to change starting now. Are you ready for one massive update!

Last post was about Halloween.  Well November was a month of new beginnings for us. We were blessed by Allah once again with the birth of another baby boy named Zayn on November 19, 2009 at 8:30am.  Sulman and I couldn't be happier.  Here we are prepping for the birth:

When Zayn made his appearance we couldn't be happier!  He was born 7 pounds and 9 oz slighly smaller than Aydan but he looked considerably smaller.  Regardless he was still cute!

While I recoverd in hospital Aydan had his first sleep-over at Sophia and Ameenah's house.  Suprisingly he did very well and didn't seem to miss us one bit.
Due to the H1N1 spread I was not allowed to have any visitors for the 3 days I was in the hospital.  However, on my return home Aydan was so happy to meet me and his baby brother that he kept hearing so much about.
Here's Zayn all ready to come home:

Here's Aydan meeting his brother for the first time!
Aydan did great!  He was not one bit jelous at all.  He wanted to hold Zayn and would always update me if he fell asleep or woke up.  For the first day he did amazing! However, later that night Aydan's temperature sky rocketed and a few days later was diagonsed with the H1N1 flu. The next few days our household was seperated.  I was with Zayn and Sulman with Aydan.  Aydan so badly wanted to sit with us but we had to avoid it because the baby could not be exposed to the flu.
A week later Aydan was better and resumed his relationship with his brother like nothing had happened!
